Our story
At Rozelle Presbyterian Church, we exist to connect people to the life, light and love found in Jesus.
From the Rozelle Markets, to the eclectic mix of cafes, local watering holes, active lifestyle, and creative art spaces, the Rozelle/Balmain peninsula is a great place to live.
It doesn’t get any better than this.
… Or does it?
In Matthew’s gospel, Jesus tells the parable of a man who finds treasure hidden in a field. It says that in his joy, the man goes and sells everything he has just to buy that field.
What is that something better than everything life has to offer, that you would joyfully give away everything for, just to have it?
We’re convinced that there is nothing better than life in Jesus.
Jesus invites us to get off the relentless treadmill of life with all its pressures and never-ending demands for more.
Jesus meets the deep longings of our hearts, always chasing but unable to fill the nagging emptiness.
Jesus frees us from having to pretend we’re somebody, going somewhere, and doing something worthwhile.
Jesus offers us true and lasting rest for our weary and exhausted souls, assaulted by grief, loss, and disappointment.
At Rozelle Presbyterian, we’re praying that many Rozelle locals, city professionals and young families, neighbours, family and friends, will find the life, light and love that is only found in Jesus.
That’s our dream.
Until Jesus’ name resounds in every space of Rozelle, our city, Australia, and even the world.
Our values
Here's what really matters to us.
Jesus.
We are all about Jesus every day.
True and lasting life, light and love are found in Jesus. He is the One through whom, to whom, and for whom all things have been made. We long for every person to taste and see the goodness of Jesus. He is better than anything else this world has to offer.
Gospel.
We believe the gospel changes everything.
The good news of what God has done for us in Jesus' coming, dying, and rising, is the power of God for salvation. The gospel starts with us, and by the Spirit of God, works its way from the inside out, moving into our homes, relationships, communities, workplaces, and classrooms.
Grace.
We're building a culture of radical grace.
Grace saturates everything we do. It's in the way we warmly welcome and forgive one another, the gentleness of our servant leaders, the rich diversity of our church, the sacrificial generosity of our giving, or the compassionate and patient non-judgmentalism of our discipleship.
Outward.
We are not a church for ourselves.
God has called us to be part of something bigger and we believe we are better together. That's why we want to partner with others to make Jesus known in every space of Rozelle and our beautiful city, where we live, work, share, and play, Australia, and even the world.
Our leadership team
Rozelle Presbyterian Church is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Australia. We are led by a team of elders who have spiritual oversight of the church.
